What is Maiko?
Maiko is a cloud-based image hosting, processing, and delivery service.
Hosting — Maiko hosts vector and bitmap files in all common formats. Your images are stored on a redundant infrastructure, engineered in-house. It offers stringent protection against downtime and data loss.
Processing — Maiko offers a simple web interface from which you can scale, crop, and export your images over the Internet. You can also use intuitive URL parameters to perform the same tasks on-the-fly. Maiko understands the @2x modifier to serve high-resolution images to retina devices.
Delivery — Maiko is built atop a global, finely-tuned CDN, that ensures blazing-fast delivery speeds, wherever your users happen to be — even on mobile devices.
Which file formats are supported?
Maiko can host any bitmap file in the GIF, JPEG, PNG and TIFF formats, and any vector file in the EPS, PDF and SVG formats. It also accepts files straight from Adobe Illustrator (AI) and Adobe Photoshop (PSD).
Maiko can transparently convert your files into the JPEG, PNG, and WEBP formats.
Maiko can deliver images up to 4096 × 4096 pixels in size.
What do I need
All you need is an internet connection and a modern web browser.
What does Maiko cost?
Maiko subscriptions start as low as 5 € a month. While there is no free plan, you can use all of Maiko’s features for free during a 30-day trial period.
How does the free trial work?
All we need is your email address. You will not be asked for payment details until your 30-day trial period is over, although you are free to type them in at any time, to ease the transition to your paid plan. By default, you will get all the features of the Pro plan for a full 30 days.
Must I use the Pro plan for my trial?
The Pro plan offers all of Maiko’s features, and allows you to fully test-drive the service. If you already know which plan you want, you can opt into it at any time during your trial period. The features available to you will be adjusted right away, but Maiko will remain free until the full 30 days have elapsed.
What if I push Maiko beyond the limits of the plan I am interested in?
If you use Maiko features during your trial period that are not available as part of the plan you are interested in, all you have to do is to stop using them. This can mean removing some files, closing user accounts, or releasing stacks. Once this is done, the plan you are interested in will unlock itself automatically. There is no penalty for test-driving Maiko to the full during your trial period.
What if I am no longer interested in Maiko?
Maiko accounts renew on a monthly basis, and you are free to close your account at any time. If you cancel within the first 30 days, which is to say during your trial period, you will never be charged. If you cancel after the trial period is over, you will be responsible for any charges incurred as part of your subscription, but you won’t be charged afterwards. There are no cancellation fees. Account deletion is immediate, and cannot be undone.
What does “Maiko account owner” mean?
The account owner is the person who originally signed up for Maiko. It is the only person who can change billing information, switch plans, or cancel the account. The account owner can transfer ownership of the account to someone else in the administration area.
Can I cancel my account at any time?
Because Maiko doesn’t have long term contracts, you are free to cancel your account at any time and you won’t be charged again, but you are responsible for any charges already incurred. Note: Your Account and all data will be deleted immediately and permanently (there is no undo).
What kind of support do you provide?
We provide unlimited support via e-mail for our paying customers within business hours. Normal business hours are 10am–7pm CEST Monday through Friday, with limited support during the evenings and weekends. We don’t provide support over the phone. We do our best to respond to every email within just a few hours of receiving it. We do not outsource our support.
Who owns my images?
What is if I exceed my quotas?
Maiko will not let you upload more files than your plan allows you to host, so there is no risk of overstepping the storage bounds by mistake.
Bandwidth quotas are slightly elastic. If you happen to exceed that quota, we will notify you, so that you can rectify the situation.
If you repeatedly exceed your monthly bandwidth quota, you will be asked to upgrade your plan, and we reserve the right to suspend your account until you do so. Put plainly, we will stand by your side if your website gets fireballed, but we won’t condone malicious behaviour that could deprive other users of their rightful share of bandwidth.
Is my data secure?
It is as secure as we can make it, and that is a promise. Every Maiko account comes with stringent access control measures to protect your data from unauthorised access. This includes 256-bit SSL security, an industry standard encryption technology that wraps all the data you exchange with Maiko, including your username and password, into a cryptographically secure tunnel.
Maiko itself is continuously updated, and monitored by both humans and machines for possible vulnerabilities and unwanted intrusions. We also review our internal systems and procedures on an ongoing basis, to keep you safe as new threats emerge.
How do I report a security issue?
If you believe you have uncovered a bug that may compromise the security of Maiko, please refer to our Security Policy right away. We welcome all security reports, and never penalise users who follow responsible white-hat reporting practices.
